Dear Sempre colleagues,
We have had the dreadful news that one of our authors in the Ashgate Sempre Series in The Psychology of Music, Anne Dhu McLucas ('The Musical Ear, Oral Tradition in the USA'), has been killed.

The official Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) website posted the following message: Anne Dhu McLucas, a professor of ethnomusicology and former dean of the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance, died on Friday, September 7, at her home near Eugene. McLucas was a Life Member of the Society for Ethnomusicology (SEM) and had served on its Council, several committees, and as a Book Review Editor for Ethnomusicology. On September 10, Harris M. Berger, SEM President, released the following statement: "The SEM Board is shocked and saddened by the news of Professor Anne Dhu McLucas's untimely passing. She was a beloved scholar and teacher, and her death is a profound loss to the entire profession. Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues." Sempre colleagues will share this sense of loss at the death of a distinguished colleague.
