Empirical Musicology II: Empirical Approaches to Performance
School of Music, University of Leeds
25-26 March 2010
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Professor Eric Clarke & Professor David Temperley
The first Empirical Musicology Conference in April 2007 demonstrated the contribution that empirical approaches can bring to bear on a range of musicological issues. This two-day International Conference will continue to explore the diversity of empirical approaches within the discipline by focusing on performance, highlighting the contribution that such methods can bring to knowledge, understanding and application within this and related disciplines.
Booking is now open via the conference website:
http://www.leeds.ac.uk/music/conferences/empirical10/The registration fee covers lunch on both days plus tea and coffee in the breaks, a wine reception and a concert by Matthew Bourne and Christophe de Bezenac, two of the most interesting improvisers in the UK. We make some suggestions about accommodation, but you have to book this yourselves I am afraid.
The full fees have been set to subsidise student registration (in line with previous SEMPRE conferences) and we have tried to keep the costs down as best we can. Please encourage anyone else who may be interested in coming to make the journey!
